Not Cranky

Ever been in the middle of getting dressed for work, and had this clarity for writing a premise for your story. For those not in the know a premise is a one or two sentence long statement that clarifies any idea you may have. Essentially if you have a good idea, you need to be able to make it into a premise.

That happened this morning. Stopped what I was doing and immediately wrote it down in my Moleskin. FYI having a bound book that you can store ideas within is a good idea. Random sheets of paper get lost too easy.

It felt good to have another premise developed, and added to the list of premises I need to revisit to revise one day.  I’ve also been thinking over an older spec pilot script i wrote, now that I have some newer tools to rework it.

Also I’m not cranky today. I think I got enough sleep last night.  Woke up feeling like this could be the start of a great day. Also having visions of working and writing.  Also had odd dreams, but that’s another post.

As always, happy creative endeavors.

A Routine or Rotation

I’ve got to get myself into a writing rotation. At least one more frequent than I’m ding now.  I may have to wake up early and put down a few lines. That means getting organized, getting to bed earlier, and doing what I have to do to maximize my creative time.

Did manage to get some writing done yesterday, but it was far more random than i think it should have been. Didn’t do any reading, when I spent the day before reading American Gods. I want to read it since there’s a TV adaption on Starz right now, and I kinda want to be ahead of the curve.

So, just like with games when you have to use your abilities in a rotation, that’s how I want to do my writing. I sorta had this fear that writing would become a chore, and I would resent it, but I’ve been writing since childhood, so why should that stop now?  It’s been a chore, but one I love doing.

Also need to add more TV shows and movies into my rotation. I say this because as former professors once said, if you want to write well, you should be watching more TV shows and movies, in addition to reading.

As always, happy creative endeavors.

Monday with a Chance of Rain

Outside looks gloomy, ready to drop rain at any moment. The weather man says 50% chance of rain. As long as its not muggy and hot. That heat can be ruthless at times. It makes for great discomfort. I digress. It’s cool and I’m having my iced coffee like its brain food. Should make a sandwich to nibble on.

Yesterday I found myself rewriting a scene on my Notes app. The write was to add tension to a rather flat scene, so from what I have mission was accomplished. The material was rough and unformatted, so today’s goal is to get this scene in shape. I have a few other items Notes I need to address, so there’s at least a technical aspect to adder if I don’t feel creative.

As always, happy creative endeavors.
